Got a webcam! As one expects* with these things, I spent an hour searching on the net to find the four non-existent drv and dll files which it needs and successfully got it working. It now takes images at least, and if I open up the right programme, I can see that it does actually work.

What I can't get it to do however are record video clips, and broadcast through chat clients.

Does anybody have any hints/tips/ideas as to what I can do to achieve full functionality? It is a PCL-W310, and I use Win98SE (don't laugh).

If Windows recognises it as a valid input device then MSN Messenger should just pick it up "magically".

Failing that I've been using Eyeball Chat (http://www.eyeballchat.com/) a lot, it's very simple to use and has decent quality.

More than that I'm not sure I can help - my cam came with a basic piece of software (its a logitech) which did the snapshot + video recording stuff..

Mine came with software too, but it only works to a point. Messenger doesn't pick the camera up - when I try to start visuals up, it crashes. hmmm.

If you get the cam working theres a nice lil webcam community at www.myvideochat.net there seems to be a lot of Ljers there too! The site uses webcam xp software so maybe that may help you with your cam??
