Feel like I've got a javelin through my right lung. Or used to have anyway. Very annoying - for years I've had pain in the right of my chest, feels connected to the muscles in my shoulder and my breathing, and may be related to how I sleep on that side. Unfortunately, it's sporadic enough to be too difficult to diagnose and eradicate. Ho hum. Also wish I'd never asked about letting companies!

One word: chiropractor. Those guys work MIRACLES!

I've had this since before I was seeing a chirtopractor. Maybe if I get back to her when I have money I'll ask he to have a look.

Nice idea, hte problem is probably somewhere totally unexpected like your hip or something :p So anyways, what have you been doing to put your back out eh? ;o)

[identity profile] cheekbones3.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been given the idea that it's air trapped outside the lung, which makes a lot more sense! As for puting my back out, I don't know what you're implying!

[identity profile] flickerswitch.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, maybe you should search the net for something you can do, excersizes or a remedy or something...

[identity profile] cheekbones3.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Trouble is there's nowhere for air outside the lung to go!

Maybe you should see a doctor? *worries*

I might well do on Monday. I've had it for years, so I'm not exactly worried.

Aye cheers :O) xx

hi there... am doing resp med at the mo and it sounds like a pneumothorax! v common in young men and pain can radiate to shoulder and affect sleeping on the affected side. more pain when you breathe in and out... saw some corrective surg for it the other day, absolutely fascinating!! x

[identity profile] cheekbones3.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah right! What do you reckon I do about it? What are the details? I'm assuming it's not serious? :O)

[identity profile] cheekbones3.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I see - air trapped in the pleural membrane. What a nuisance! How do they correct that then?

[identity profile] notonlyoranges.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
erm, well usually it just goes away by itself if it's not v big. but if it keeps coming back or gets worse then you might need the air taken out using a syringe or a chest drain. the woman in theatre the other day had little bubbles in her lung which kept bursting and giving her probs all the time, and they were cut out using key hole surgery. if you get a lot more breathless or a stabbing pain then you should go and get a chest x-ray done!

Might well do that - it's usually periodic, but it hurts quite badly every few weeks or so, like the last couple of days. It's also been happening for years. Cheers for the pointers!
