Aargh Firefox just apparently restarted itself and has forgotten all of my bookmarks and settings! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

May I also say again aaaaaaaaaargh?

Buggeration.

Exactly the same thing happened to me a few months back.

I'm starting to lose faith in Firefox a bit.

I like it in general - IE did a lot worse in its time. I've at least managed to use some old links - just got to find the missing ones now...

Boo:( Hope mine doesn't do that...
Have you still got your bookmarks in ie?

[identity profile] cheekbones3.livejournal.com 2005-03-03 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got old Firefox bookmarks, but I had them all nicely organised. Ah well :O) Will have to find the remaining missing ones.

Well it'll give you something to do anyways;o)

Am still feeling a bit crappy, boo!

Ta xx

Sorry for whingeing!

It could have forgotten your default profile and started a new one, so your bookmarks et al. may still be there.

Do a file search on C: for "bookmarks.html", failing that search for the backup "bookmarks.bat"

Hope that helps

I found a backup, so it's not too bad. Searching now to try to find a more recent one though...cheers!

Oh, there will be more than one copy of those files (and one of them will be your "new" empty bookmarks file) so select the most recent/complete. To restore them, you'll have to figure out which version of your bookmarks Firefox is now using, and replace it with the good one. Remember to close Firefox first, otherwise it'll rewrite the file with whatever bookmarks are in the active copy (i.e. none!) when you next close it.

Got it - cheers.

you poor thing. I've developed a habit of exporting mine to a file every few days so I can have them on Archos mp3 player thingy. I'm paranoid.

Found a back-up - it's not too bad!

I'm glad to hear it.
