Your blood disappears if it is drunk by other vampires. If you haven't played for a while the message above the city squares will tell you who and drunk your blood and stolen your money. I can't think of any other reason for blood to disappear...
There is a yahoo group who all report sightings of shops and guild locations, they also have a map of the city pointing out where all the banks are. It is Freedom_trade_alliance@yahoogroups.com
or else there's vamps out on the Suction Quest, who manage to drink more than 1 pint of blood from you - again, the status messages above will tell you :)
