Natural selection is the way forward
Well, that's another weekend over with. Drank rather too much on Friday with
kynon and
gibberling, along with other people who happened to be in Opium at various times. Didn't do much Saturday apart from getting dragged round the shops (I appear to have regressed), and Sunday was spent in the Auld Hoose for food, although I thought other people might appear but didn't. Nice coffee last night with the girls, and to apparently prove that they're justified in inviting me to their gossip sessions (sometimes), here is a meme:
Agenda for today:
Numerous games of poker, hopefully to do better than Saturday's show of making the money in six single-tables out of nine, but only breaking even.
Recommence putting my personal football league archive into electronic format; another thirty or so seasons still to go before I start running games again, or least producing graphs to compare with the running totals on paper.
Finish reading the Sunday paper.
Show flatmate what it means to not leave a feast for the local mice, and to not be a lazy bastard, by introducing him personally, and possibly painfully, to some of the kitchen equipment that appears to have been used for a hastily abandoned juggling convention since I was last here.
That is all.
NEWSFLASH FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF THE BLEEDING OBVIOUS: If you're asthmatic and live near the big oil-depot fire, the smoke may make you cough. On the other hand, if you have lung problems and you need to be told this, you deserve everything you get.
In other words, Auntie Beeb and Uncle Murdoch, give us some fucking credit please.
FURTHER EDIT: Yay, there's an article here about the legendary Tourette's lad (everyone my age must surely have seen the documentary at school), and he sounds like he's doing okay (he's 33 now). He sits on the committee for Tourette's Scotland, which gives me a wonderful image of what their meetings could be like...half-chewed canapés being spat across the room...a swear box the size of a beer barrel... I'll stop being a bad person now.

Makes sense to us. We've capable of using our brains. There are people that stupid out there and no one wants to be sued.
