(no subject)

I think one of the nicest things I experienced yesterday was walking into town in the early evening, and there being no cars around for long periods. It was bliss to stand in the east end and for it to be quiet! I think it really is the only day that we have now where the world stops, and it's a bloody relief. Makes me miss the old Sundays where all the shops were shut, and even the pubs shut after 3pm. What a difference a decade or so makes!

Some European cities have 'no car' days. I wouldn't be surprised if Edinburgh gets around to following the example some day.

Especially good for someone like me who hates crowds... wish it was like that all the time :)
