Obligatory post on events and stuff
As for my life, I'd better do an update.
From the weekend before last, as before that is too long away and out of memory. I went to Manchester for an old girlfriend's thirtieth birthday. She's turned from utterly mental sex-bunny into middle-class mum (which was always on the cards eventually!), although she's not had kids yet, just a bunny and a boyfriend to boss around. And she's still quite mental I think. Was good to get down there and see a few people I've not really since the early days of university, most of whom are now engaged, and/or have kids, although they are also refreshingly the same in many ways. Had a good night, but was disappointed to half an eight-pint hangover, when I'd only had three or four...
The following weekend was the water point (Beltane) away weekend, and we stayed up near Tyndrum in heated wigwams on a campsite which is highly recommended apart from the lack of recycling. We spent Saturday up in Glencoe, firstly paddling/swimming in a lovely naturally blue pool in the last of the melt waters, then rehearsing for hours in the sun. Sunday we went to Loch Lomond and played on a beach for a couple of hours. The scenery up there is pretty stunning, I'm sure I'll get up there again at some point.
Otherwise, I've just been keeping up with Super League which is enjoyably close at this point in the season, doing more Beltane rehearsals and spending time with
bunnyphone. If I've been up to anything else, please tell me! Oh, trying to get a fraction of a million together to buy somewhere dry and cosy too.
I'm ill too, going to go and cook something, not had chance yet!
In other news, about 200 people were blown up in Iraq yesterday, I sense I hell of a lot less wailing and gnashing of teeth at these events that the ones in America on Monday. I also feel that, quite apart from the obvious badness of multiple murders, it's a shame that the university slaughter perpetrator was firstly non-American, and also apparently a loony. This gives ample excuses for distraction from the real issues of guns. Mind you, saying that, I've not actually heard these excuses yet.

I fully agree that had everyone had guns, much fewer people would have been killed in that university. Whether it would be better to have dozens of one-off killings around the country from self-defence situations rather than occasional massacres, well, that would obviously be worth it - a lot of dead nutjobs, only a handful of people dying each day over petty disputes - at least the system knows how to cope with that sort of situation from the experience of the inner cities. Having the policy rolled out across the country seems a sensible solution, middle America I'm sure agrees.
