Do any of you use Firefox Sync? It seems like a nice little tool to get all my links onto another device without messing about, but the set-up process makes little sense. Having set up an account, it seems like I've synched another device, but there's no noticeable difference, and the process seems rather contradictory.

Would be grateful to hear your experiences.

Works fine for me. I have a laptop, a desktop and a phone, all in sync with each other.

What problem are you having?

I've registered on my PC. I then tried to add in the laptop, and entered the code etc (although it wasn't clear which way round I should do this), and it seemed to work eventually, but nothing appears to have changed.

I think I did it wrong too afterwards, as I entered the code and was requested to enter the master key from the new machine after. All in all, I found the process confusing and ineffective!

Quick thing to check. Go to Tools->Options, and then the Sync tab, and check the user name in both of them, and that everything is ticked underneath.

Well firstly, I can't go to the options without going through the setup/pair options, which seems odd. Secondly, Each computer appears to have the name of the local account. Does this mean I did it wrong?

Yup. One of them needed to be set up from scratch, the other needed to be set up to sync. I think.

Try unsyncing one of them, and then telling it to sync with an existing account, and pairing with the other one.

I can't find any option to unsync, even after finding instructions online to do so. It just doesn't give me the option, unless it's hidden somewhere!

Nope, I just get the plain page with the links to set it up or pair a device.

On both of them? That would indicate that it's not set up to sync at all!

How odd! Maybe I'll try again!

Hmm, the e-mail address is given as 'already in use'. If I click on 'pair a device', then say that I don't have the device with me, it asks me to sign in, including a recovery key, which I never received. Now I'm definitely stuck!

If you lived at the East End of Town I'd have popped over by now and just fixed it :->

Sadly not, we've got guests, so I'll be in the pub most of the weekend! Thanks for the offer though, maybe Monday if it's still being stupid. I wonder if there's a conflict with Xmarks...

It's working now! I purged it and started again.
