(no subject)

I officially stopped being a miserable git today for the moment-just sat and shivered lots instead...will have to get used to cycling into town a different way while they demolish the burnt bits of the old town warren...my scented candles only smell when they're not burning! How silly that is...I realised that I can never remember these pre-bed rambles the following day until someone questions what shite is falling out of my noggin, but I think I seem pretty lucid tonight!

Mental note-I must do a post typed in my own accent instead of this RP nonsense which I generally write in...I mean being in Edinburgh, I get the impression that people think I'm Scottish! Eee! Although I do still need a kilt...I have the shoes and socks at least. Ooh dear I started babbling at last. Welcome all people reading this crap for the first time! If only I could be bothered to start remembering how to link your names on here...maybe next time kiddies!

Hi!!

Welcome to the jungle, as [livejournal.com profile] ajoyiant calls it. We're not all bad... just a tad overwhelming to the unsuspecting.

So consider this your warning. *heh*

I'm hoping you stay warm AND dry. TPTB know it's cold here.

If you're looking for a kilt... be sure to pop a message in [livejournal.com profile] nasagrl's journal... she makes them. Her website is www.knightshaydes.com - if you're of the mind to want to check her stuff out.

You *mean* you're not Scottish?! *eyes opening really wide* Oh my. Oh my. This is getting interesting.

It's getting late, and it's time to slide into a hot bubble bath before going to bed. Take care, and stay warm!!

*hugs*

Scottish! I could almost fake the accent after being here for seven years, but if you've ever seen The Full Monty, I sound like the stars in that film...

Will never think of you as scottish.......you will always sound like a farmer!

very brave cycling through the streets of edinburgh at all! I get terrified just coping with the traffic in blackpool on my bike (it's a shame about the fire, though .. edinburgh's one of my favourite cities, much nice than london!)

Ach it's not too bad-as long as you realise that taxis and buses generally ignore you, and that car drivers will ignore regulations, and other cyclists and pedestrians are invariably stupid...at least we don't have trams here to get squished by!

I found you on the list of people with Edinburgh as an interest if you're interested! Have you been here much?

[identity profile] softlyspoken.livejournal.com 2002-12-10 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean .. I get more stressed out by the 10 minute bike ride to work, than actually working all day.

one of my friends lived in edinburgh (posh place called south gyle), so I've spent quite a lot of time there! but they moved to newcastle for uni, so I haven't been up there for over a year unfortunately :(

Aye I know the area, but never really go out there-I live pretty close to the centre. Where did you go out normally?

[identity profile] softlyspoken.livejournal.com 2002-12-10 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
there isn't much in south gyle, so we'd usually catch the train into waverley station and spend most of our time in the city centre .. only thing I really remember was "the bit where they filmed the beginning of trainspotting".

I've not seen that film, so I don't know it!

[identity profile] kynon.livejournal.com 2002-12-10 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
*lol*

I work out by South Gyle, and posh isn't really a word I'd use to describe it....

[identity profile] softlyspoken.livejournal.com 2002-12-10 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
well .. yeah .. but I live in blackpool, so most places seem posh by comparison!

hello stranger

Don't think anyone could mistake you for Scottish if they heard you talk, dear....

Well... you got in touch via friendsreunited, I replied via email... you didn't. Grr. And here I find you, while I indulge in a little voyeurism. I missed your birthday because I asked you in the email for a snailmail address... perhaps that's why you didn't reply, though you know I'm not the stalking kind...? Hope you had a good one... we're getting old now, don't you think?

So, care to get in touch Ian, before I start scanning those old Holland/Baird House photos...?(Anyone for a spot of "catalogue man"?)

Love Sarah xxxxxx
