Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury. Probably the first single I properly remember, although I've even fainter memories of loving Boney M, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer in '78...
what was the first single you ever bought?
I've only ever bought three:
3am Eternal - KLF (Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the live version of this song with vocals by Extreme Noise Terror?!), Fly Away - Lenny Kravitz, and This Town Aint Big Enough For The Both Of Us - Sparks vs Faith No More
what's your favourite music video?
Can't think of anything much good offhand...
what song evokes the strongest memory for you?
Hold On Tight - ELO- driving in Cornwall in '81 is a pretty strong evocation
have you ever fallen in love to a song?
I've not even fallen in love yet*sigh*
what's your least favourite song?
I hate many many songs with a passion...for now let's pick "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" by Travis. There are hundreds of songs that fit here very well. "No Woman No Cry" by Bob Marley is absolutely despised by me actually. That holds the prize!
who do you think is the most over-rated singer/group ever?
Bob Dylan/Bob Marley-hard to split them, and it's not because they're both called "Bob".
who do you think is the most under-rated?
I'm stuggling...INXS, or maybe Carcass.
what's the most unexpected band, artist or song that you like?
Depends if you're surprised at me loving Slayer, Stevie Wonder, Funkadelic, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The KLF, JS Bach, Adam Ant, ELO, Portishead, Def Leppard and many other eclectic things or not!
