This is my first update not using IE! How exciting...nice to be part of the anti-MSN revolution, he says, using Windows...

Scooting off to Essex tomorrow for the first time to a wedding of a friend (no doubt the first of many...), but due to time squeezes (I have my MSc viva in the morning), it's going to have to be one hell of a dash in the car. This being a car without top gear, on a Friday afternoon, going past Birmingham and London. We aren't going to make it are we?!

Advice please!

I am currently filling in a job application...I need references that have known me for three years or more, that are not employers or tutors, past or present. Is it appropriate to just put down friends, and if so, do they need to be doctors or whatever?

So then I'm going to have to rely on friends for character references - any of you lot know me well enough and have interesting enough job titles to be able to be referees for me? It would be much appreciated!
