Baaack! Less and less snow as I got closer to Scotland unfortunately though. Quiz tonight! Hangover fading. Who's in town at the moment? Me want socialise. Nice pressies! Randomly ended up with a Technics tape player too; now I just need the other components of the separates system, which are somewhere on the 2006 post-job list of stuff to buy, although not near the top. Got pissed in a few of the old haunts round east Leeds finishing at East Leeds, my old rugby club. The Black Dog, The Waterloo and the Fisherman's Hut all appear to have disappeared into the ether, and the centre of town appears to now be only five minutes' walk from the club, as opposed to the twenty minute hike through the industrial wasteland that it was ten years ago. The old main road is not used any more, and the area has the feel of a ghost town (the host of new developments of flats on top of the old builders' yards etc along the river notwithstanding). It's just like the bits of the old town I know have just had the shiny buildings of a new metropolis dropped on top of them. Think most of my periodic web browsing is up to date, although there's always some site of e-mail account that gets forgotten. This post has turned into something the [livejournal.com profile] wondergeek might have written! Think I'll stop there, before a paragraph sneaks out of my fingers...

We had enough snow to turn me into a snowman in five minutes, but then it all melted just enough to freeze into a very pretty sheen of ice crystals, which should cause much merriment for those with enough time to watch people in high-heels running for buses.

According to the news, this is a "big freeze" (well, they said the Big Freeze would continue until Thursday at least). Surely not because there's been one day of snow-showers in the south-east of England, and realistic winter temperatures for a change? Oh no no no of course not.

Finally, I saw about a dozen meteors while walking home from this quiz this evening, so I'm assuming the Geminids (I think) are putting on a good show. With the cold air too, this is an excellent night to get out and see your first shooting star :)

And so to bed.
