Well it's about time I did a post about my time in Stockholm, more than three weeks ago now.

I was there for a korfball tournament at Sweden's only club - it's obviously a help for their development to play against overseas clubs, and we had met them at the Edinburgh University tournament in January. Obviously Stockholm was also an excellent place to visit, so a couple of us were there early to have a look around the place.

Luckily, it was hot, sunny and on the Friday, it was the national day, which has only been celebrated in recent years. This meant that there was quite a party atmosphere around the place, which was added to by school graduates who apparently celebrate by travelling round town in the back of lorries while drinking/throwing beer and blasting out loud music.

The city is very nice, and although touristy it didn't feel overrun at all, and there were some very quiet areas in which to walk, drink and watch the world go by.  Given that it is built across various islands, there is a lot of water about to see, lots of bridges, and a nice old-world feel.

Have a couple of pictures:

Central Stockholm, pessimistic building is pessimistic.

Practising being a tourist

Modern art, or something.
