I'm actually quite looking forward to the charts this week - not because I expect to like a lot of the music, but because downloads will be included for the first time, and it will be interesting to see the effect that it has. First of all, I reckon it will introduce much more stability into the charts - expect less songs going straight in at number one, and expect the more popular songs to hang around a lot longer like they always used to. Furthermore, there will be more of a tendency to the music preferred by twenty-something males, as they make up the bulk of the downloading market, and this will greatly balance the previous hegemony of boy-bands and general shit, although it will be no means remove it!

Now to the shower.
