Can you lot recommend vaguely obscure eighties tracks please? I reckon I've found almost everything I ever wanted from that decade, but there may be the odd thing I missed. Electronica preferred, although all genres will be considered (apart from maybe hair metal...

I've heard nothing about it!

How do you mean by alternative? Punky, gothy, new-romantic, glam, new-wave, ska, electronic, or just underground pop?

The Divinyls!!! Okay, they're not that obscure, but they're cool. Er, like Donna Summer. Jimmy Sommerville. Have no idea if he's any good but I used to love him when I was a kid, along with the Cure (obv) and Culture Club.

NITZER EBB.

Hmmm...I've got the one Donna Summer song I really like, same goes for most Bronski Beat/Communards, alsoo The Cure. Never liked Culture Club (Karma Chameleon drove me mad when it was out).

I've heard of Nitzer Ebb - what are they like?

They're really really good! I think they're like, daddies of industrial/electro dance. I've made it my mission to play them whenever I DJ, cos not enough people do.
Although actually I've only got two albums by them, Ebbhead and Big Hit, which are both from the 90s, but I'm expanding my collection via soulseek right now! Their discography is rather large and can be found here:

Enjoy...?

Hmm, it appears that I lied with regard to which albums I have, as him indoors has downloaded 2 others, so now I am in a position to recommend tracks for downloadiness:

Most well-known/oft-played tracks - probably Murderous and Join In The Chant, both from That Total Age (1987)

My personal favourite tracks:
from the 80s - Let Your Body Learn and Violent Playground (from That Total Age) and Blood Money and Shame from Belief (1988)
and overall - Kick It, Cherry Blossom and Floodwater (from Big Hit, 1995)

Oh, and if you like industrial with a more metal leaning Ministry are quite cool too.

I know Ministry very well - saw them last November - brilliant gig!

Have got Godhead, which has just started playing...it sounds okay actually.

Mr Iain,
I've got an 80sish electro CD. Really good. Its got loads of well known stuff on it, but a few more obscure numbers too. I'll be at the Pub tomorrow night for quiz, so let me know if you want to borrow it.
