For those that don't know, I live in central Edinburgh, and some nice recent pictures from the fields five minutes from my flat can be seen here, just to prove what a nice city this is: http://www.livejournal.com/users/petit_scarabee/304289.html

Lovely to see snow in the city like that. But where do you play cricket when it's like that? You get no movement off the pitch!

We had snow in the suburbs. Once. In 1986. So light it was like feathers through the air, and melted before it hit the ground.

There are a couple of pitches just near where those pictures were taken actually - I've never played on them but I'm told they're like minefields, so a lack of movement is not a problem :O)

I heard recently that there was snow in the mountains a month or two ago, which I believe in unheard of at this time of year for you!

Yeah, it was around the time we had that big rain, in the first week of February. Temperature dropped off quite a bit and the (Australian) Alps got some snow. We've had some nasty extremes.

I heard a guy at the football today (yes it's summer and I'm watching footy) who said that he's sick of Daylight Saving because it's screwing with us... we get cold mornings and get sucked in for the rest of the day, when the sun actually comes out and heats things up. Damn true!
