Ooh excellent - Hull v Bradford on telly! That's the next two hours sorted.

By the way, myself and [livejournal.com profile] kynon are running the Great Caledonian Run tomorrow, and he's doing it in aid of Leukaemia research. See his post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/kynon/215083.html

That reminds me that I'll probably have a quiet night tonight to get set for tomorrow. I feel strangely tired, given that I slept pretty well last night! Too much lie-in maybe...

Thought I'd see what people are saying on the Runners World forums, but they're just trying to decide where to park! *laughs*

I've had a look at your route, on the greatrun site... looks longer than 10k!! But I'd guess they know better than me. *grin*

Hope the weather's good for you. :)

It should be perfect - quite cool. The big hill out of the park is much later than it was last year which I think is a blessing! Last year in the first mile you had to climb up a bitch of a hill, and that finished me before I'd started really...

Ouch! Looking back to the forum thread, it seems everyone thought the course was a bit of a killer.... Looking forward to seeing how you & Kynon did! I'm guessing you've been rehydrating yourselves in the pub all day? :)

Aye had a pint this afternoon - my legs are starting to feel a bit tired now.

I think the course was pretty tough on reflection - it seemed a bit excessive to include The Mound instead of using Waverley Bridge to get onto Market Street. The hardest bit was the plod out of Holyrood Park, and since I didn't quite know where the finish line was, I started my sprint finish too early, which meant that I died badly about 50m short! Had to stagger home instead of doing the high-kneed sprint across the line I was hoping for...

In the end I got 48 minutes, Kynon was a couple of minutes behind me.

48 minutes is brilliant though, especially with a tough course. *impressed*

I'm kinda aiming for a time around 35 minutes for my 5k, so somehow not quite in your league, I reckon. *laughs*

Maybe it wasn't too bad if everyone's saying it was so hard. Would still like to have done better though!
