Urgh. I don't at all recommend coming off one's bike at a decent lick. In fact, I don't recomment going round Horse Wynd by the Parliament at speed, especially when the road is damp. I remember thinking, as my chin hit the floor, "ooh, that's going to hurt". Luckily, my chin is only grazed! Lost 15% of a thumbnail, and gained a painful bruise on one shin, but other grazes aside, I'm fine now I don't want to faint post adrenaline-shock!

Seems I've run out of plasters too. Ho hum! If anyone fancies supplying me with medical aid, I wouldn't complain :P

Been there my friend.

Borrowed my flatmate's bike a few years back, to cycle from East Preston Street to London Road and back. Being a complete loon, I thought nothing of doing this in the middle of the day, without a helmet. All went well until I turned back onto East Preston Street from South Clerk Street. As I was coming up the street, my right foot slipped off the pedal, and somehow got stuck between the frame and the front wheel. This brought about a sudden and rapid deceleration, and sent me headlong over the handlebars, but also off towards the pavement. With the bike still attached to my ankle.

My diagonal flight took me and the bike over the bonnet of a parked car, and I landed in a space at the side of the road, but fortunately my hands and elbow took most of the impact. As I lay there dazed, with one foot (still with the bike attached) sticking out into the road, I heard the distinctive sound of bus coming round the corner, so I was unable to lie there and recover, but had to disentangle myself, and rescue the bike (being as it was worth about a grand.

Ended up having to wash large volumes of gravel out of my palms, knees, and elbow, and also discovered that I had a one-inch gash down my ankle from the frame & tyre.

That hurt as well.
