We had enough snow to turn me into a snowman in five minutes, but then it all melted just enough to freeze into a very pretty sheen of ice crystals, which should cause much merriment for those with enough time to watch people in high-heels running for buses.

According to the news, this is a "big freeze" (well, they said the Big Freeze would continue until Thursday at least). Surely not because there's been one day of snow-showers in the south-east of England, and realistic winter temperatures for a change? Oh no no no of course not.

Finally, I saw about a dozen meteors while walking home from this quiz this evening, so I'm assuming the Geminids (I think) are putting on a good show. With the cold air too, this is an excellent night to get out and see your first shooting star :)

And so to bed.

It's infuriating - I was most amused last time they predicted a "big freeze" and Look North got one of the weatherladies to go to a village in the middle of the North York Moors, where she failed to get snowed in by the 1cm that fell.

weatherlass: "There's really no disruption"
studio: "err.. but they predicted lots of snow, look there's some" (probably not actual words)
weatherlass: "We have had snow before, you know. Still, take care as the Met Office is predicting a heavy snowfall. Back to the studio"
studio: "And that'd be the Met Office - in London" (actual words followed by withering "you southerners" look)

class.
