I'm looking for a little advice folks: I'm planning to transfer most of the data on this computer to another one over the weekend, and I'm wondering what the most efficient way to do this is. I've got a router which I could maybe use, if I set up a little network, but is there an easier way? Also, how does the transferral thing affect installed programs? Say if I copied one hard drive to the other, would I have to reinstall everything? And how does one keep one's licences intact?
Cheers.
Cheers.

Date: 2006-01-13 12:37 pm (UTC)You can create mirrors of harddrives a variety of ways. If you are using Windows, then Norton Ghost should do the job: it comes with the Norton Utilities, I think, which are pretty easy to come by, and often with a free trial. You will need both drives in one machine, and the resulting hard disk should be an exact copy of the original (i.e. it will be bootable, and all your software and data will still be intact).
