Jan. 30th, 2006 12:59 pmPhew, just cycled round Arthur's Seat to see the lovely frost. It appears to have got down to about -5C in town last night, so I'll assume round the back of the hill it was down to about -8, and it's probably the best hoar frost I've seen since it was really cold ten years ago. Nice! Half an inch of ice on Dunsapie Loch too, which will only increase in the next couple of nights. Not sure how the cold will continue - the high pressure seems wont to fade to the southeast, which means it will warm a little here, although how much it will fade seems to be a bit of a guessing game, so we could even have cold frostiness until the weekend and further if it decides to build again. I doubt we'll get the best-case scenario of the high drifting to the northwest however, which would potentially freeze us solid :)
Nothing much else to report. Life goes on! Hve made my requisite $50 from poker for the day, but will try to improve this in the afternoon's omaha tournaments.
Ooh yes, rugby season starting at last this weekend, with the world club challenge, Bradford (Eur) v Wests (Aus) on Friday night. Summer rugby in the frost ahoy!
