Back from London. While I was there, I had some great ideas for elements of an excellent entry to this here journal thang for when I got back. Of course, the zeitgeist of the moment evaporated, and I've forgotten what I was going to write.

In the end, I went to a couple of meetings and inbetween met [livejournal.com profile] cybik for the first time in too long. We walked from Pimlico (we didn't need a passport) past Parliament (heartening to see the protesty bloke, and his presence illustrates how ridiculous the ban on protesting outside our central democratic building is), and on across the river and along the South Bank to the Millennium Bridge. Had a nice time, lots of good chat. Am glad I'm the sort of person that splutters at a pizza costing £18.75 at a shop we passed; mind you, I splutter at people paying £25 for scraps of cloth to look fashionable, or at £2 for cups of tea, that sort of thing. As much as I propel myself to middle-class mediocrity, I'm still deeply working-class in my attitudes, and this comforts me.

The Hungarian Prime Minister quite absurdly admitted lying constantly, and there's been a coup in Thailand.

Firstly, it's great to have some news stories about somewhere that's not Middle Eastern or Sudani. Secondly, Ferenc the PM has tremendous balls to make such a complete arse of himself and then try to claim that he was bold to speak the truth (rather than caught with his trousers down (and bollocks flapping dangerously close to the threshing machine)), and thirdly, the Thai coup d'etat is completely the fault of Ginger George, who is in the country at the moment, and has legendary bad luck.

Ooh, it seems I remembered some elements of what I was going to say. Hope the quiz survived without me last night.

And so to bed!

Well the tea was just a random example, not something I specifically saw. It was more that the restaurant was also pretty full. The country is too rich! Or to put it another way, not enough people have too much money. But then we knew that anyway!
