Jan. 5th, 2007 01:57 amWell, the end of the cricket was pretty painless, and unsurprisingly quick. Glad it's over, hopefully some arses will get kicked over this! Can't be arsed babbling about sporting ills, but I had to at least mark the passing.

Date: 2007-01-05 05:43 am (UTC)The English fell apart immediately after the last Ashes and never had a chance to recover. Chosing a team half-full of folks that had played maximum 3 months out of the year could not work and the difference showed from, literally, the first ball of the series. Bear in mind, also, that Australia had the best players the world has ever seen [now retired] at their disposal, whereas the best England players were either out of it or severely hampered by injury.
England were never going to win. We just didn't expect them to lose this badly.
one small victory we can take is that the Aussies were so gutted last time that 4 of them delayed retirement for a full year just to get revenge. Without those 4 it may have been a far different story. We'll find out next time.
