Well that was fun - the oven decided to burn itself out in a particularly spectacular manner tonight! It appears that the element burst, (or whatever they do when they die), it arced very loudly and brightly, and once I'd cut the power I thought it was on fire until I realised that the remains of the element were just glowing flame-coloured (pretty hot then).

The pies were virtually cooked though!
