Apparently, teachers at a certain school aren't allowed to stand in for their lollipop man when he's off work because they aren't trained. The children therefore cross the busy road with no help at all. Health and Safety at its best folks!

In other news, it appears that the only part of the country actually in Autumn continues to be the Shetland Isles, while the rest of us put up with the murky fag-end of an extended summer. This is going to continue past the weekend, but I think I read early hints that the cooler air may eventually get to us in the next week or two. Could be wet and windy in the interim either way though.

I know I could find something on google, but do you know any good up-to-the-minute satelite images of Scotland cloud cover?

(So I can look at an Aurora Watch Red Alert and know roughly where to drive to see the Northern Lights (should such a thing occur any time soon...))

I only know ones that update hourly, like BBC, or Met Office for rainfall at least. Not so good really! Last time I saw one of those alerts at nighttime, I was lucky enough to be outside the pub just before the quiz and the sky turned green :o)
